Up
Yesterday was my last day of school. So to celebrate, my friends and I went to see the movie Up.
"From Disney Pixar comes Up, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell."
I cannot say how great this movie was! It was funny, sad and adventurous all packed into one. You may be thinking "This looks like some dumb kid's movie", but it was not like that at all! I would say it is my second favorite Pixar movie (Finding Nemo being my first). My friends and I all loved it, and I recommend it to everyone. Don't just take my word on it - The film recieved an incredible 98% on RottenTomatoes.com! I am forcing my mom and sisters to come see it with me again.
Have any of you guys seen it? Did you like it?

heyheyhey
Hey everyone. Long time no see, right? Just thought I would update on my life... Seeing as I haven't looked at this site for a few months...
The biggest thing is my life right now is: I am leaving for Brazil in less then 3 months!!!! I will be there from August 2009 - June 2010 as a Rotary Foreign Exchange Student. I will live with 3 different host families during my stay, I will go to school there (which will al be in Portuguese
)
To answer some of the most common questions:
- No, I don't speak Portuguese. But they say you pick up the language very quickly since you are surrounded by it.
- My first host brother, who is 13, speaks a little English. My first host parents do not.
- I am a little scared, but more excited. I can't wait to leave!
- My real family cannot come to visit me. And I can't leave for holidays or anything like that.
- Most of the classes I take over there will be counted in my American high school.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me!
The reason I am telling you all this is because I am going to be creating a new site that will serve as a blog while I am in Brazil. It will have pictures and updates on my trip. I have not created it yet, since I am still looking for someone to host me. But once I do, I'll post a link here so you guys can keep up on the happenings of Derick.
See talk to you all later!

Wow, Spam Much?
I got 180 comments in my last post, most of which are spam...
I don't even know why people would bother posting that kind of spam, cause it is just dumb links that no one would ever want to click.
Actual spam links in my comments:
"business gasoline credit cards"
"easy get money way credit"
"online poker not so random"
"random access generator slot machine"
So ya, I have no clue what kind of person reading my blog would want to click those links. They aren't even grammatically correct or make sense.

I'm a Rebel - Pt 2
Here's part II of my story:
So my dad came to pick my friend Jon and I up at 1 am take take us both home. I was so Jon would say something about it to my dad
But he didn't. I had the hood up on my hoodie up, so in case my dad decided to be a creeper and try to stare at my earlobe, he would not be able to see it.
The next day I found out that Jon (who was too much of a baby to let us pierce his ear) went home and pierced his brother's ear right after the party! haha I thought that was funny.
When I got home my mom was like "How was the party? What did you guys do? blah blah blah" and I was like "umm.. fun... nothing.... i am going to go to bed." and I don't think she suspected anything
The next morning I was in the shower, and I hear my mom talking on the phone to someone. And then she knocked on the door and said in this obnoxious voice "Let me see your earring, Derick!
" and I knew I was in trouble...
One of the girls told her mom, who told Katie's (the party host) dad. And so Katie's dad had to call all the parents and tell them what happened. We were all grounded
But Katie was grounded for the longest - a month! She didn't even pierce her ear! As part of my grounding, I had to call Katie's dad and tell him I am sorry for being irresponsible in his house. He was actually really nice about it so it wasn't like a big frightening deal. I am ungrounded now (hence my ability to post this blog). But some of the people are still grounded. Even though we all got in trouble for it, we all agreed that it was worth it and really fun.
So in other news... haha
I got Animal Crossing: City Folk! In case you guys don't know, it is an AWESOME game for the Wii. I have always been a huge Animal Crossing fan, so I was so excited to buy this new one. Does anyone have it? I would love to trade FC's with you!
